Philosophy

Greenville Transformer Company began in 1961 when Charlie Pickens & his wife Billie bought the business. The company began with three employees but has expanded over the years and now employs approximately 20 to 25 employees. When Charlie passed away in 1980, Billie continued operating the business as Owner/President. She has been joined by her son, Steve- working as Vice President/Sales Manager/Tech Support and Steve’s wife, Kellye – working as Production/Office Manager. Our capabilities cover an almost complete field of services. We repair, rebuild and recondition every size transformer from a 5 KVA through 10,000 KVA. This coverage ranges from a simple, single phase pole-type or dry-type distribution transformer to a not-so-simple, three-phase unit substation power transformer. Our seven acre lot holds over 3,000 transformers that can be reconditioned and shipped. With our fleet of trucks, we pick up and deliver at no extra charge in the South Western U.S. on scheduled runs. This assures faster and better service.

Pole mount:

Greenville Transformer Company’s oil-filled overhead distribution transformers are typically used for stepping utility distribution voltages down to lower voltages. Our large stock of both new and reconditioned single phase units are commonly used for power distribution and voltage reduction for residential and light commercial applications. Single-phase transformers are more often seen in rural settings, where the cost of three-phase distribution is a lot higher.

Multi-tap:

The Multi Tap transformer is a broad line of single-phase and three-phase distribution-style transformers primarily designed for the rigorous duties of down-hole submersible pumps, as well as surface pumps, and Variable Speed Drive applications. The Multi Tap transformer provides full amp capacity across a wide secondary tapping range with 25 or 50 externally selectable positions.

Single Phase: Single phase step-down Multi Tap transformers are available with single primary voltages or dual primary voltages.

Three-Phase: The Multi Tap transformers are three-phase step-up designs with a 480 V primary.

Application:

  • Oil and gas down-hole and submerged pumps with variable speed drives
  • Surface pumps
